The students spent the first week learning background information about ocean acidification and making decisions about their research projects. They spent the first week getting everything set up for their projects, doing test samples and analyses. The mesocosm bags were deployed Friday afternoon. After filling the bags over the weekend, the daily sampling will start Tuesday morning (April 9).
Talks on background material were given by Dr. Robin Kodner (phytoplankton), Dr. Evelyn Lessard (microzooplankton), Dr. James Murray (ocean carbonate chemistry), Dr. Robert Morris (bacteria), Dr. Kitack Lee (experiments in South Korea), and Dr. Jorun Egge (experiments in Norway).
